Commander William Smith
Commander Smith graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and earned a Master of Science in Ocean Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in July 2001. In his current position as the Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard's Providence Civil Engineering Unit, Commander Smith and his workforce of 60+ professionals are responsible for executing over $25 Million on maintenance and repair contracts annually, and managing depot level maintenance for the entire portfolio of Coast Guard facilities in the North-Atlantic region, stretching from Caribou, Maine, to Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and valued at more than $2.5 Billion. Additionally, Commander Smith and his staff apply a product line approach to managing configuration standards for more than $2.3 Billion of industrial, civil works, & base support facility assets across the entire CG enterprise.
